Daily Blam has four new posters for the upcoming Green Lantern film.
I would hope the marketing team over at WB would be attempting to get an official movie poster to be released in theatres to create more buzz for the movie. Instead we're given these kiddy styled posters which aren't bad but the quality certainly isn't something to get general public in a frenzy.
Granted these are from NECA, who gave us a preview of their Green Lantern merchandise earlier, so I know it is geared more towards the younger audience. Maybe I am impatient in waiting for the official poster but I don't even recall a teaser poster in theatres last year to let anyone in on the fact that this movie is being released.
A number of things have shown up since the trailer debut to help promote the movie like action figures, shirts, a video ga
me, statues, and children's books. While these things are a positive for marketing it still feels like the biggest audience is being left in the dark and that's the general public. Most people have only seen the one trailer back in November which wasn't all that clear as to what the whole movie is about.
My guess is that WB is still holding back until they feel like the next trailer and poster are something that won't send more negative buzz towards the film. The date is getting closer and there is still a lot to be desired from the average person regarding Green Lantern. There are rumors abound that a new trailer will be attached to Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch film. A second trailer certainly should be soon and I think an official poster needs to be released into all major theaters world wide this month.
With that out of the way, I do like these posters. They will probably be the ones at Wal-Mart and Hot Topic or other shops in the mall. I really hope WB is cooking up something nice as the film gets closer to its release. I feel like the tagline at this point should be, "You have the ability to overcome a bad marketing strategy". As I said before maybe I am just being unfair and impatient but time is ticking and it feels like a lot of it has been wasted.
