Updated Tomar-Re Image

Issue #61 of the main Green Lantern title was released last week. Inside was another preview of the upcoming movie based around the popular character. Tomar-Re was the center of discussion and scans of the article found their way to the internet later that day.

The official Green Lantern Facebook page just uploaded a better image of the beak faced hero. Oa looks great from what I can see of it, and the design of Tomar-Re is top notch. I really only have one gripe and that is with the GL emblem on his chest. Hopefully they will try blending it into his uniform better to get rid of that photoshopped look.

Green Lantern Featured In Toy Fair Magazine

Today has offered us a full plate of Green Lantern updates and goodies. Thanks to the guys over at Daily Blam!, the green keeps on flowing.

The January 12th release of Toyfair magazine is said to have a large number of alien designs being released for the action figure line. A few images have already gone up earlier this week including G'hu, Tomar-Re, and Rot Lop Fan. A new Hal Jordan sculpt (left) is currently the only new figure online.

Some of the ealier images have the black and green combo suits as opposed to these new scans with two shades of green. This should be worked out before the actual release of the figures. The two tone green suits look horrendous to me. They may just be prototypes but if that's what fans have to look forward to then I doubt the product will see any sort of positive sales.

Until I see definite green and black on these tiny men, you can count me out.

Rage Is The New Black In 2011

"With blood and rage of crimson red,
Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead,
Together with our hellish hate,
We'll burn you all--That is your fate!"

I feel much better after reciting that and spewing bloody vomit into the sky. The Red Lantern Corps is a favorite amongst Green Lantern fans. How could it not be though? Everyone has days of rage and anger boiling at the tips of their fingers waiting to be released. Fans will be able to suppress that rage this year as the Red Lanterns are getting an ongoing series. No artist has been named for the project yet but Ethan Van Sciver or Dough Mahnke would be excellent choices.

Peter Milligan gave some insight to DC Comic's news blog, The Source:

“Everybody who has read 'Green Lantern' and its associated books for any time probably knows why Atrocitus is angry. His entire race was almost wiped out by marauding Manhunters," said Milligan in a brief statement.

“But after Geoff Johns asked if I was interested in writing The Red Lantern Corps I started thinking about Atrocitus and his anger. Because it’s not just anger. It is RAGE. A crimson red rage that still consumes him after all this time. And when you think about it, the Manhunter massacre happened an awful long time ago. Eons ago. Okay, you’d never get over something like that. But Atrocitus’ rage hasn’t weakened. It is just as immense and awesome as it was all those centuries ago. I wanted to know why. I wanted to know how."

“In the first storyline of 'The Red Lantern Corps' we look for an answer to these questions," continued Milligan. "And the answer lies in part on the far side of the prison planet Ysmault. It is here where we’ll see why and how the rage of Atrocitus is just as all-consuming as it ever was. We’ll also begin to learn what goes on in the boiling brains of his napalm-blooded corps. Can the proud Bleeze remain a loyal servant? How does the angry cat DEXTAR try to feed its beloved master? And what horrors lie at the bed of the ocean of blood?”

Official Green Lantern Movie Site Updated

The Green Lantern site has been updated as indicated via HD Room. Its nothing really "new", but it's nice to see some additions to go along with the trailer. A few hi-res stills, a new hi-def trailer (which is gorgeous), synopsis and downloads have been added.

I clicked on the largest size of the wallpapers and began examining the image. The man standing on the precipice, who I once thought was Hal Jordan, looks like Sinestro. There's a shot in the trailer of Sinestro descending in front of a large Lantern symbol and maybe the picture above is the following scene once he lands.

Check the image and see if you can spot any of your favorite Green Lantern Corps members; this is who I've noticed from left to right:

Salaak, Hannu or Kilowog, Boodikka, Apros, G'Hu, Stel. I'm unsure about the floating character. My first guess was Chaselon but it's really not shaped like him and could be a redesign for the movie. Looks like the forms of Salaak, Boodikka, and G'hu were used to place in other spots as filler.

Green Lantern opens in theatres June 17.

Handsome Hal

Add one more to the Corps! Following his fellow Corps members is this nicely sculpted Hal Jordan. He measures in at 14' tall with 20+ points of articulation, boasting chest emblem and eyes that light up.

This figure looks much better than the 6 inch, crackling chest Hal that was released a few days ago. The sculpt of the face resembles Ryan Reynolds well. He should fit in quite nicely with my 14' Batman and Superman to complete what I feel is the true "Big 3" of DC Comics.

Now we can begin the guessing game of which character is released next in figure form. Sinestro and Killowog should be right around the corner; maybe even an interchangeable head accessorized Hector Hammond!

Tomar-Re and Rot Lop Fan Figures

A few days ago, this figure of Tomar-Re (above) showed up on eBay as a pre-order. It's not been confirmed that this is an actual figure based from the upcoming Green Lantern movie or a custom made by a fan, but it looks to be legit as an official product of the movie.

Now Idle Hands Blog has noticed another creature from the Lantern Universe. This time, Rot Lop Fan (right) has been discovered on the Mattycollector.com Forum.

It's great to see some of the characters that are going to be featured in the movie. There have been sneak peeks and figure leaks showing how the scope of this film will be as close to the comics as possible. My only wish is that we were getting more character designs and actual finished images of these characters in the big screen version itself.

Green Lantern Movie Inspired G'Hu Action Figure

The folks over at The Daily Blam have struck again in the action figure department. This time the site is presenting a picture of Green Lantern Corps member G'hu. I don't know how to pronounce that, so if you're at some Green Lantern Addicts meeting, just pronounce it "Goo".

I can tell you that the character is newer to the Green Ring when compared to other Lanterns. G'hu first appeared in the comics during the mid 2000's and was originally a prison guard. He graduated to Lantern status during a prison riiot.
