Rise Of The Manhunters Images

Two screen shots of Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters video game have appeared at this website. The above image seems to have a Manhunter in larger format but at a closer glance it could be a Highmaster. Green Lanterns became the fuel for these large machines. There were tentacles inside the bots that grabbed Lantern Corps members and eventually turned them into pure energy. This will probably end up being one of the main threats to overcome at the end of a level.

Below is a shot of Hal using his fist construct in a different manner than we've normally seen. Instead of projecting them, he's used them to enlarge his own fists for a close combat battle. The battle looks like it's taking place on Oa and possibly with the Zamarons. The design of the characters closely resemble  the beings powered by love.

The graphics from these two shots look very nice but games loosely based around their film counterpart are usually stinkers. I am excited that they are adding a lot of Green Lantern history into it with the Manhunters and possibly Zamarons. The Green Lantern universe lends so much potential to a video game and could be an amazing, fun time. I hope they don't screw this one up.

New Green Lantern Action Figures Revealed

USA Weekend has two new exclusive images of the Movie Masters line of action figures being released by Mattel. On the left is everyone's favorite Xudarian, Tomar-Re and on the right is the aquatic like NautKeLoi. This set of Movie Masters is said to be the most expansive one yet from Mattel boasting 12 figures in all, each with a piece of the Parallax entity to build the main threat of the film.

The Kilowog figure to the right is from Toy News International. It's part of the 4" Battle Shifters line where all the characters have various constructs of their own creation as defensive weapons. The construct is folded into a disguise and with a touch can be transformed in an instant to reveal the weapon.

The Movie Masters have all looked really nice and I'm excited to see which characters remain. The Battle Shifter Kilowog looks great and is a bit of a surprise. The other figures revealed in that set haven't been too impressive so hopefully this new one is a sign of the others to follow. I like the idea of the constructs popping out as if they were created on the spot just like the ring would allow. Kids should end up having a blast with these.

DC Direct Green Lantern Movie Products

DC's blog, The Source, has been loading Green Lantern fan's down with goodies today. I decided to save this bit of information for my last update of the day. To me it's felt like the marketing groups have thrown out millions of coloring book covers and less than exciting clothes as well as other merchandise that is nice, but not quite what true fans want. Since the debut of the trailer there has been very little to get excited about for this film. That has changed today with these statues and busts from DC Direct. The products seem to have a very high quality sculpt which is a change finally from the below average action figures we've been shown. Take a peek below and start making your wish list now:

Green Lantern Costumes

Costume Craze has a pre-order page for the very ridiculous looking Green Lantern costumes inspired by characters from the film. Hal with Christmas lights, Kilowog as burned bacon, Sinestro as an Italian mobster and Tomar-Re being defeated by the sun in his eyes. These are the characters you can choose from this Halloween. There's not much else I can say that the photo doesn't explain.

Nathan Fillion Voicing Hal Jordan

From TV Guide's official page:

"He's enjoying mainstream success as the star of ABC's Castle, but Nathan Fillion is still a fanboy favorite — and a fanboy himself. So the Firefly and Dr. Horrible alum totally geeked out when he was offered the voice role of DC Comics superhero Green Lantern in the DVD movie Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, due June 7 from Warner Bros. Animation. Emerald Knights is a series of vignettes about the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force. Fillion plays Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Earth's space sector, who mentors Arisia, a new recruit played by Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss. "I was always reading the comic books, I was always a spectator," Fillion says. "Now I feel like I own a little piece of Green Lantern."

And he's getting to share it with an old friend, Ryan Reynolds, who is starring in the Green Lantern feature film, which opens 10 days after the DVD comes out. Both actors got their big breaks together on the ABC sitcom Two Guys and a Girl. "He's a great guy, a gem, deserves all the success that he's getting," says Fillion, "so it's neat to have a little piece and share it with someone you know.

The voice cast for Green Lantern: Emerald Knights also includes Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies), Kelly Hu (Hawaii Five-0, The Vampire Diaries), actor/spoken-word artist Henry Rollins and ex-wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.
"

This should be very pleasing to a lot of fanboys around the web as many had pegged him for the role before the live-action film even had a script. There is a fan made trailer floating around on Youtube with Fillion in the lead role. I have a feeling that Emerald Knights is going to be much more interesting than First Flight, DC's first animated film starring the character. Henry Rollins and Roddy Piper are strange but interesting choices for voices in the feature and I'm curious to see which roles they land.

Green Lantern Invades Six Flags

With the first live-action Green Lantern film being released this year products involving the hero of Coast City will be popping up all over the place. Six Flags decided to get in on the fun as well with a new roller coaster themed around Green Lantern.

This coaster will be the first of its type for the U.S. Brady McDonald of the Los Angeles Times is especially excited about the new ride dubbing it his "most anticipated new roller coaster of the summer". He also gave a brief description of what to expect while waiting in line for your first voyage:

"The Green Lantern's vertical zigzag track will reach a top speed of 37 mph over 825 feet of serpentine track during the two-minute ride.

Upon boarding a train that straddles the track, eight riders per car face in two directions, forward and backward. A chain lift carries each car up an inverted curved section to a height of 107 feet. From there, the suspended trains rock back and forth on the straight-aways and rotate head over heels as the cars plunge over freefall drops."

Jump to the 1:00 mark to see digitally rendered footage of the ride in action.

The Glorious Fist Construct

It's probably the most recognizable construct from the Green Lantern mythology; the giant fist. This will be noticeable even to non-fans that have at least seen the trailer as Hal uses it on a trio of thugs. If there would be any version of Hal to pick up from the 3 inch line of figures, this is the one. Thanks to Daily Blam for the image.
